TissuePatch is a ready-to-use sealant film requiring no advance preparation. The product, in its various formats works by adhering to amine groups on tissue surfaces. It softens as it hydrates to become a film that conforms to complex surfaces, with the flexibility to remain adhered to dynamic tissues. Compared with liquids TissuePatch™ represents a tiny amount of foreign body and is guaranteed to be the same thickness wherever it is applied. Adherence to tissues is strong and burst pressure testing demonstrates superiority over alternative sealant methods.

Tissuemed has listened and responded to the key demands of Thoracic Surgeons by modifying its platform technology to suit the application. New TissuePatchThoracic™ uses the same basic multilaminate structure and the same synthetic absorbable components, but subtle modifications to the production parameters mean the new product is more resilient, more conformable and possesses improved handling characteristics.

Technology

TissuePatchThoracic is manufactured by a team of dedicated and professional polymer chemists and technicians under class 7 (10,000) clean room conditions. State of the art characterisation and analysis techniques ensure only the highest quality product is released.

TissuePatchThoracic has a fused multilayer structure containing patented reactive polymers for chemical bonding to tissue surface, and a non-adhesive backing material for ease of handling and prevention of post-surgical adhesions. The patch remains in position until absorbed in about 50 days.

Compostion

TissuePatchThoracic

  1. Carboxylic acid groups for inital tack via electrostatic interactions

  2. Functionalised carboxylic acid groups for covalent chemical bonding

Tissue Surface

  1. Tissue surface rich in protein groups containing amine and other nucleophilic functionalities

Stage 1.

Application: Ready to use and easy to apply

  1. Moderate pressure applied for several seconds allows contact ashesive to hold TissuePatchThoracic onto tissue surface

Stage 2.

Rapid adhesion and sealing within 30 seconds

  1. Amide bonds form rapidly between TissuePatchThoracic and the tissue surface

  2. The patch is strongly adhered flush to the surface to seal the wound to prevent leaks of air, blood and/or fluid
